Anne Steadman is Counsel at Christensen Law LLC. Anne focuses her practice on business and corporate disputes in the Delaware Court of Chancery and the Delaware Superior Court, Complex Commercial Litigation Division. (CCLD)
Anne began her career as a law clerk in Delaware Superior Court, going on to spend most of her career with Delaware litigation boutiques, including Ross Aronstam & Moritz LLP. Most recently, Anne was a member of the Global Commercial Disputes Group at Reed Smith LLP. Anne is experienced in all aspects of the life cycle of a Delaware case—including pre-filing considerations, eDiscovery and discovery disputes, deposition practice, dispositive motions, pre-trial motion practice, trial, and beyond.
In addition to her public company work, Anne has a particular interest in private company disputes, including “business divorce” cases involving founders and others with a personal, as well as financial, stake in the business. Anne represents both plaintiffs and defendants, with clients ranging from individual founders to private equity investors, banks, state agencies, and other large institutions.
Prior to attending law school, Anne earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy and taught college-level philosophy for several years. Anne enjoys speaking on important developments in Delaware business and corporate litigation, as well as on ethical issues facing business people and the attorneys who counsel them.
Anne is active in the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, most recently as a Vice Chair of the Business and Corporate Litigation Committee, as well as the Richard S. Rodney Inn of Court.
Outside of law, Anne enjoys learning about the natural world with her husband and son, and is active with the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science.
Represented officers and directors in advancement proceedings in the Delaware Court of Chancery, obtaining summary judgment in clients’ favor.
Represented companies in earnout disputes in Delaware Superior Court, including securing judgment on the pleadings for a recent client.
Represented a financial institution in a multi-jurisdictional dispute with a floor plan financing client, successfully negotiating a favorable global settlement.
Represented founders of a successful personal care franchise business in an ownership dispute with their investors, successfully obtaining a favorable settlement before trial.
Represented a state agency in a dispute concerning the proper use of a charitable trust.
Represented clients in disputes over lease agreements, including commercial real estate and private aircraft leases.
Represented a pro bono client alleging claims of racial discrimination and wrongful termination, including through trial in Delaware District Court, obtaining a favorable settlement for the client.
